Airport Authorities Support Decision to Defer Separation

December 23, 2008

The Boards of the Dublin, Cork and Shannon Airport Authorities support the decision of the Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey, T.D., to defer any decision to establish each Airport Authority as a separate, independent, commercial business entity.

It is the considered view of each board, as recommended to the Minister, that deferral of separation is the correct decision in the current very challenging economic and aviation environment.

The Dublin Airport Authority is in discussions with the Cork and Shannon Airport Authorities to put in place the most appropriate governance arrangements in response to the Minister’s decision and to ensure the most effective management of Dublin, Cork and Shannon Airports for all stakeholders concerned.
