DAA Welcomes Third Party Intervention And Calls On SIPTU To Withdraw Strike Notice

March 3, 2014

Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) welcomes the announcement of intervention by two government departments, IBEC and ICTU to seek to prevent planned industrial action at Dublin and Cork airports next week and to work towards an equitable, sustainable resolution to pension arrangements at the company.

In the wake of this announcement, DAA calls on SIPTU to withdraw its notice of industrial action for Friday March 14 and to engage fully in this process.

DAA has stated consistently that resolution of the pensions issue is its main priority and that the planned disruption to economic activity and the travel plans of thousands of passengers by strike action, is neither warranted nor helpful.

DAA, which has conditionally agreed to invest more than €50 million in upfront payments to employee members of the troubled IASS pension scheme, is available to enter discussions at any time in any appropriate forum.
